Background
Bar Financial is the private investment firm of Moti Maaravi. It operates across three disciplines.
Prior to founding the firm, Moti spent a decade in derivatives. He headed the derivatives unit of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange from 1998 to 2001, and led the derivatives department at Investec Bank until 2003.
He founded Bar Financial in 2003 and, in the same year, issued HADAS — the first ETF on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange tracking the USD/ILS exchange rate. The product grew to over ILS 3 billion and was acquired by Gaon Capital Markets in 2005.
In 2005 he co-founded Xpert Financial, a Bar Financial company specializing in structured products. Working alongside leading global investment banks, the firm brought more than ILS 11 billion of listed structured products to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange before winding down in 2014. The firm also ran a proprietary trading operation in listed derivatives and FX.
Moti holds an MBA in Business Management and Finance from Tel Aviv University and a BA in Economics and Management from Bar-Ilan University.
